We know that food is one of life's great pleasures, so our menus change regularly to excite and nourish both the body and the mind.
At Meridian Healthcare we take pride in offering high quality fresh food for all our residents. In all of our Care Centres we offer a wide variety of menus with meals from Breakfast and Dinner offering great range of choices.
Each of our Care Centres employ experienced Cooks who use fresh and varied ingredients. We have a classic approach to our menus. Sharing a meal is an important part of everyone's life, although you can eat your meals in your own room if you wish.
As well as main meals, snacks and drinks are available at any time of day or night If you have any special dietary requirements, our staff will be happy to discuss individual needs with you before you come and stay with us.
Each day you can wake up to a 'get you started' breakfast, and then maybe settle down to a traditional Sunday lunch and delicious dessert. We provide a varied selection of menus every day. Our menus are developed with and by our residents to meet individual tastes.
We will endeavour to cater for your individual request or needs. Menus at each Care Centre are different and reflect the likes and dislikes of the residents. Each Care Centre will display the daily menu and staff will be happy to talk to you about typical menus.
Our menus change daily and reflect seasonal produce. We involve you and your relatives to ensure family favourites are taken into account.
In our Care Centres that provide care for residents with dementia we provide coloured crockery, which is normally Blue in colour rather than a normal white plate. The reasoning behind this is that people who have dementia often find it difficult to see light coloured food on a white plate. From various research studies the evidence suggests that 60% of people with dementia suffer from a visual impairment that can make it difficult to see colours that are similar.
The majority of food we eat on a day to day basis isn't blue so in our Care Centres we use blue crockery which makes it easier for clients with dementia to see all the food on their plate more clearly, resulting in eating more and becoming more confident about eating because they are able to differentiate the food from the plate and the plate from the the table. This produces improvements in nutrition, increased socialisation and the reduction of weight loss.
So that all of our Care Centres can provide quality food on daily basis we pride ourselves in our Chef/Cook development days. By having Chef/Cooks in our Care Centres who are able to provide quality meals to our residents it makes sure that residents enjoy mealtimes and look forward to the wide variety of meals we offer at Meridian Healthcare Care Centres on a daily basis.
