Residents and guests of Meridian Healthcare’s The Denby care home hosted a special afternoon of activities as they opened their doors to celebrate the Harvest Festival (Thursday 6 October 2016).
The Denby welcomed children from Denby Dale First and Nursery School as part of the Harvest Festival celebrations. Captivating residents, the children performed a number of moving autumnal songs.
Special guests Paula Sherriff MP and Councillor Jim Dodds, Mayor for Kirklees, were given a tour of the home and enjoyed a special harvest church service, provided by the Methodist Church.
A key part of the day was the distribution of all the home’s harvest collections to Huddersfield Mission, which runs a community café offering affordable food.
Paula Sherriff MP commented: “I was delighted to join The Denby’s harvest celebrations and the children of Denby Dale First and Nursery School put on a great performance that was enjoyed by guests and residents alike. It’s an absolutely stunning home and I’m incredibly impressed by the quality of furnishing and the amount of communal space.”
Anne McDonald, resident at The Denby, added: “The harvest was enhanced by the children’s’ performance from the nearby school. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.”
Run by award-winning Meridian Healthcare, The Denby is located in the area of Denby Dale.
