Wedding bells were in the air for White Rose House when staff, family and friends celebrated a resident’s 66th Wedding Anniversary.
Cath Courtvriend and her husband Tony were sent an abundance of cards and flowers and enjoyed their special day at White Rose House surrounded by close friends and family.
Cath, then aged 19, met 20 year-old Tony in the winter months of 1948. Both Cath and Tony worked at the same engineering firm in Manchester. Cath was an Operator and was attending a six-month college course. Cath commented: “I was very proud of the fact that it only took me four and a half months to complete.”
Two years later the engineering couple tied the knot and rented their first home together in Old Trafford at a cost of £2.50 per week. Tony added: “It was a lot of money back then!” The couple went on to have two beautiful daughters.
In 2008 the couple moved to Holmfirth and sadly Cath suffered a heart attack and stroke within a 24-hour period. To receive the care she greatly needed, Cath soon moved to White Rose House care home.
Penny Watson, White Rose House activities co-ordinator said: “The anniversary was a fantastic day and our kitchen staff were pleased to prepare a tea party for all to enjoy. The atmosphere was full of love and warmth
